I spent a summer studying abroad in Florence and loved it. Traveled to Rome, Venice, Elba, Sicily, Chianti, Almalfi coast, etc. So many beautiful sights to see, so much history and the most wonderful food! The food is so fresh! I did have a few safety concerns.... a problem on the bus and on the streets one time, it is important to be careful and as a female I would not walk alone after dark. Furthermore, try to disguise the fact that you are American as much as possible!
