While studying abroad in Australia I spent a weekend on Fraser Island. Famous for it's sand beaches that stretch on for miles. It is probably the most beautiful place I have ever seen. The center of the island is filled with miles of sand.... you feel like you are in the middle of a dessert and then you come across a fresh water lake and Eli creek which is fresh water about 3-4 feet deep and runs downstream- you literally get in and ride down the creek.
