There is abundant security on the street with a high visible police presence. Must be mainly for their tourist industry as they depend on it for foreign dollars. The streets of Cairo with its 22 million people however feel very safe. People are very friendly and polite, saying Welcome to Cairo as you pass. I heard that a lot. Read Full Review

The first night I came here it was 95 degrees and there was a sand storm so the sky was filled with a mysterious red haze and the winds were howling. I could barely see in front of my face. It was thrilling and just reinforced the mysteries of being in such a foreign culture. The food here is really quite good. It’s a cross between Indian and Mediterranean food – lots of humus, rice, lentils, fish etc. The ancient artifacts are the primary charm of this city. 3 days max to see it all. Read Full Review
