Overall
The Sofitel Silom is such an excellent hotel to stay in... My friends and I enjoyed every minute of our stay and were reluctant to leave!

The great rooms, breakfast, service, dessert, gym...everything!
When taking a cab from the hotel, get a card with the hotel's address/location stated in Thai. Cabs usually turn on their meter but if they don't, tell them to. If you're bothered by noise, ask for a room away from the lifts. Our room was next to the lifts and we could hear sounds, particularly loud in the bath!
Staff were all polite and pleasant.
The chambermaid forgot to clear the litter in the bin of the previous guests! Other than that, room was nice and clean.
Service was great. We were greeted daily by all the staff throughout our stay! There was even someone to hold the lift for us...how nice!
I loved the buffet breakfast at the Mistral! The breakfast at Shanghai 38 isn't as good (though they have some similar items) but the view and decor is stunning & unique. We visited V9 on our last night. What a happening pub! The atmosphere was nice and drinks reasonably priced. The Lenotre cafe serves fantastic desserts.
The pool was really tiny! And it is positioned just in front of the gym, where the threadmills and cross trainer machines are so you'll literally have people staring at you swimming! Gym was great though there could've been more machines. Hotel does provide clean towels for the guests using the gym/pool.
Hotel was situated just about a 10 mins walk away from the Patpong market that comes to live at night. The train station is about a 5-10 min walk away so everything was really convenient.
