Cause:

War Child looks forward to a world where no child knows war. It provides opportunities and long term solutions for war-affected children and their communities, focusing on education, strengthening children's rights, reducing poverty and fostering self-reliance.

Action:

War Child works in partnership with local people to build sustainable programming that empowers children and their communities. War Child is operational in ten conflict and post-conflict areas. These include Darfur, where it offers a safe haven for displaced children; the Congo, where it is rebuilding schools; and Afghanistan, where War Child’s training and micro-finance loans are lifting widowed women and their children out of poverty.

Impact:

Since it was founded in 1999, War Child’s work has reached hundreds of thousands of children. By working, wherever possible with local organizations, War Child is able to empower communities to take back control of their lives and build sustainable futures. War Child believes that young people have the capacity to change the world. Since 1999, War Child’s youth outreach has inspired well over a million young people in north America to work for change.
